I had a great discussion with a co-worker the other day concerning the Nintendo Wii. It started with my comment “meh, what online service? It is barely even there”. Those were indeed fighting words. Apparently, because online play was not the primary objective for Nintendo when releasing the Wii, no one should bitch and should purchase something else. Online play may not be the primary objective for Nintendo, but it is a feature they stated they will support and make available. They just went about it in the most painful way they could. One reason given to me was security. From what I asked. “People you don’t want to talk to, talking to you”. Last I checked, you have to accept the friend request before someone could talk with you. “well, the remote was their feature so buy something else if you want online” was the response.
