Game Concept Document

Although, the weekend is over here is the game concept document I promised. If you have ever been curious about what a game concept paper looks like, where here it is. As stated before, it is not a showing on how to do something but rather how to not do something. This was my first document ever written. Not only that but I wrote it an hour before deadline and I didn’t do a good job. Take a read and see: Game Concept: LastSong

Impressions: Furious Gamer Radio

To fill my work day, I listen to podcasts. Sometimes I don’t get a chance to keep up on all the news and they allow me to catch up on whats been going on as well as get their take on the most recent gaming news. This requires me to subscribe to a lot of podcasts and sync them to my iPhone. Sometimes I forget and curse myself the next day when I want to listen to the latest PSNation podcast. That is where Furious Gamer Radio comes in:

PS3 Text Chat And Why I Like It

Recently the PS3 received a firmware update that included backing up PSN purchased movies to an external hard-drive (thank you) and 16 concurrent player text-chat. Yes, text-chat.

ps3_chat

This features allows you to create a text-chat room and invite people from your friends list. People on your friends list can invite others as well into the chat room so not everyone in the chat room will be on your personal friends list. With this, users are able to text each-other in-game and can have up to 3 chat rooms going with a total of 16 people in each.

Life In SCM PT.1

scmI figured I would write a little bit more about what I do for work. I am a software configuration guy. Meaning I track changes to the code, build code, manage release process, and maintain environment. Let’s start with my entry into SCM…

At my previous company I began to administrate and develop for the Remedy system. We tracked all changes in IT with this system, and I produced all the reporting, and tool for submitting change requests. I also began to run one of our change control meetings for the desktop group. I was then thrown into change control. While performing my new duties I wondered on several occasion’s on how this development team can code something, release to prod (internal app that produced material for clients), and not have anyone test. Not only that but they would throw a fit if you contacted them about some bug or failure? Change control that really isn’t controlled, huh.
