With the major announcement this past weekend of 7 time world champion Michael Schumacher retiring comes another with his future replacement. The Iceman, Kimi Raikkonen has been announced by Ferrari to replace Schumacher with a 3 year contract ending after season 2009. He will pair beside Felipe Massa starting in 2007. Ferrari, in the past, had commented on Raikkonen as a potential driver for the factory. Jean Todt has recently stated that Raikkonen has always been one of their favorites and that it was an easy choice as who would take a seat in Ferrari’s car. I myself will prepare for a bright future in red, now that my favorite driver has paired with my favorite team. It will certainly be sad to see Schumi leave the sport of racing, but he will remain a force to be reckoned with and held in high regard as the names of the past.
